Datuk Azizan Bin Haji Abd Rahman, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 15 April 2013 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He has more than 31 years of experience in the financial industry. He began his career in Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in 1979 where he had exposure to finance, examination and supervision, and was also the Director of the Banking Supervision Department. While in BNM, Datuk Azizan was a board member of Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen and ERF Sdn Bhd, and also an Advisor to the Malaysian Accounting Standard Board. He was the former Director-General of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) where he served for more than six years until his retirement in 2011. While serving in Labuan FSA, Datuk Azizan was a member of several boards, including Labuan Corporation and Financial Park (Labuan) Sdn Bhd, as well as an executive committee member of the Malaysian Islamic Finance Committee.

He is currently a board member of MIDF Berhad, MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Berhad, Kensington Trust Malaysia Berhad, Kensington Trust Labuan Ltd, Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad, OCBC Bank (M) Berhad, City Credit Investment Bank Ltd, Cagamas Holdings Berhad and Cagamas SRP Berhad. He also holds directorships in several private limited companies.

Datuk Azizan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from University of Malaya in 1979 and obtained his Masters in Business Administration from University of Queensland, Australia in 1994. He is a fellow member of CPA Australia and a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Sulaiman Bin Ibrahim, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 1 March 2012 as a Non-Executive Director. On 12 December 2013, he was designated as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director.

Sulaiman was with PETRONAS Carigali from 1986 to 2011, and had vast experience in various areas such as engineering, construction, installation and structural installations. He has experienced the full cycle of project management from tendering exercises, detail design, procurement, fabrication and installation to hook-up and commissioning of offshore facilities and onshore sludge catchers and tank farms. He also holds directorships in other private limited companies.

Sulaiman graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Malaya in 1984.

Nurhilwani Binti Mohamad Asnawi, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 1 March 2012 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. She is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and has 17 years of experience in accounting, finance and treasury.

She joined Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad in 1999 as an Accounts Supervisor and in 2000, Laras Architects Sdn Bhd where she held the position of Accountant. Nurhilwani graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from University (Institute) Technology MARA in 1998.

En Nik Hamdan Bin Daud, started his career as a Test Engineer in Motorola Sdn. Bhd. and worked with the company from 1989 to 1991.

He then joined Pipetronix Sdn. Bhd., a German-owned offshore pipeline service company, from 1996 to 2000 as its Managing Director, where he was actively involved in the technical and commercial aspects of the business.

From there, En Nik then founded PBJV in year 2000 and eventually creating a niche for PBJV as the market leader in pipeline services in Malaysia.

During his years with Pipetronix and PBJV, En Nik has served various reputable oil and gas clients such as PETRONAS Carigali, Sarawak Shell Berhad, ExxonMobil, Petrofac, Newfield, Murphy Oil, Talisman Malaysia Limited and VietsoPetro, among others.

He has been extensively involved in upstream activities, mainly in pipeline services, integrity management, platform operations and maintenance, developing standard operating procedures, the training and development of engineers and Health Safety Environment Management Systems (HSEMS).

Non-Executive Director
Datuk Chew Theam Hock, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 2 April 2018 as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director.

He is currently a Director in a number of private limited companies in the property development, plantations, resorts and oil and gas industries.

He was previously an Executive Director in the plantations division of Glenealy Plantations (M) Bhd until 30 June 2014. Prior to that, Datuk Chew was a Partner/Executive Director with KPMG Malaysia. He has more than 25 years of experience in tax planning and structuring of transactions for public and privately held multinational and domestic clients in a wide range of industries. While at KPMG, he was also regularly consulted by many financial institutions on tax issues pertaining to their financial products that include real estate investment trusts, asset back securities and Islamic products. In addition, he had also assisted the government and regulatory authorities with regard to the changes of tax laws, incentives and guidelines. He was also an active speaker at conferences and seminars on tax matters.

Datuk Chew is a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia and Australian Society of Chartered Practising Accountants (CPA).

Datuk Mohd Zaid bin Ibrahim, aged 68, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad as an Independent Non-Executive Chairman on 14 October 2019.

He obtained an LLB (University of London) and was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple in London before establishing Zaid Ibrahim & Co, which grew to become the largest legal firm in Malaysia. He is now an Advisor to the firm. He has over 40 years as a legal practitioner, and was involved in multi-disciplinary practice and advises clients on corporate matters, privatization and financing of major infrastructure projects such as the North South Highway and Water privatization. He also had extensive experience in advising government agencies on law reform and drafting of legislation and regulations.

In 2008 he was appointed to the Cabinet of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and served as a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department with responsibility for legal affairs and judicial reform.

Datuk Zaid and his wife Datin Suliana Shamsuddin, established and manage YOKUK - Foundation for the Disabled and Underprivileged based in Kota Bharu, Kelantan since 1999. This Foundation has helped more than 5000 children and poorer members of the community. The Foundation not only helped thousands of disabled but also provides palliative care to terminally ill cancer patients.

Dr. Rosli Azad Khan, 62, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 14 October 2019 as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Dr. Rosli Azad Khan obtained his Ph.D in Transport Economics and Masters in Transport Planning from Cranfield University, England. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) and formerly the Vice President until 2018. Throughout his entire working career in the transportation sector, he has directed or managed consultancy projects in South East Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. These include large-scale studies for both public and private sector clients involving multi-disciplinary teams.

He has more than 35 years of management and industrial experience including business consultancy especially in transportation, traffic and logistics sectors covering various modes of transport such as air, land, rail and sea. His experience covers areas such as ports & shipping, shipyard & shipbuilding, cruise & ferry studies, oil & gas, container trade, traffic planning for highways, high speed rail, MRT, LRT and urban transportation.

He has also been involved in privatization projects and consultancy, public private partnership (PPP), feasibility studies, traffic forecasting, project assessments and evaluations, financial analysis, project financing and policy reviews. He was previously a Board Member of Drydocks World, Dubai, UAE and Polarcus LLC, Norway.

Currently, he is attached to the office of the Minister of Entrepreneur Development (MED), assists the Minister as a member of the ‘Majlis Tindakan’ Negeri Terengganu and also as an advisor on Global Entrepreneur Network (GEN) Malaysia. Since April 2018, he was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at UTEN Melaka teaching technopreneurship to MBA students. He is also a Director for Yayasan Bank Rakyat and serves on the Board of Trustees.

Datuk Joseph Lau,age 54, holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance) degree from Curtin University, and is a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA).

Datuk Joseph Lau joined Perdana ParkCity Sdn. Bhd. (ParkCity) in July 2010 as Executive Director and is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer.

ParkCity is the property arm of Sarawak based conglomerate, Samling Group with diverse business interests from forest resource management to oil palm plantation, property development, energy (oil & gas), infrastructure and automotive business in various countries globally. ParkCity is the master developer of the affluent Desa Parkcity township and also 3 other master plan townships, Marina ParkCity and ParkCity Eastwood, in East Malaysia and ParkCity Hanoi in Vietnam.

Prior to ParkCity, Datuk Joseph has more than 15 years’ experience in the consumer and retail market and 10 years’ experience in commercial centre developments with IKEA South East Asia from 1995 to 2010. He held various senior positions with IKEA from Country/General Manager of IKEA Retail Malaysia, Head - Commercial Development to CEO of SF Development Co. Ltd.

Datuk Joseph has also 8 years experience in financial and accounting management. From 1987 to 1995 he held various senior finance and accounting positions with Budget Rent a Car Group in Australia and New Zealand.
