Independent Non-Executive Chairman
Dato' Mohamed Sabri Mohamed Zain , a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 7 July 2014 as the Independent Non-Executive Chairman. He has more than 36 years of experience in the international oil & gas industry.

He started his career with PETRONAS in 1978 as a Petroleum Engineer and gained numerous promotions during his service with the organisation until 2012. He moved to PETRONAS Carigali in 1980 where he was involved in various field development projects and was responsible for many overseas oil & gas development projects; among those were Duyong Gas Field Development, and Dulang Oil Field Project. In 1991, he was promoted as Petroleum Engineering Manager, in 1994 as Manager of Drilling Department and in 1995 as Manager of Ruby Oil Field Development Project in Vietnam. By 1996 he was promoted as the General Manager for Vietnam Operations based in Vietnam where he spearheaded the development of PETRONAS’ first overseas oilfield development as an Operator. In 2000, he was the General Manager for PETRONAS Carigali Development Division.

In 2004, he was the General Manager for Middle East and Asia Region until 2006.

In 2006, he was the General Manager for International Operations and is responsible for PETRONAS Carigali’s international operated blocks and joint operated blocks covering Vietnam Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Turmenistan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia-Thailand JDA and Sudan. He also led a team of multi-disciplined engineers and geoscientists in PETRONAS’ first development and production of gas in Pakistan and also involved in PETRONAS’ first development of oil in the Caspian Sea, in the Turmenistan Sector.

In 2008, he was President of White Nile Petroleum Operating Company (WNPOC) a unit of PETRONAS in Sudan and is responsible for the full E&P value chain for 3 Exploration and Producing Blocks in Sudan/South Sudan.

In 2010, he was Vice President of Offshore Business Unit in MISC Berhad a subsidiary of PETRONAS and is responsible for leading MISC’s provision of floater solutions for E&P operations of the shallow and deep-water areas with assets in Malaysia, Brazil and Vietnam.

In 2013, he left PETRONAS and became President of Puncak Oil & Gas Sdn Bhd and also the President of GOM Resources Sdn Bhd and is responsible for the company main business of providing services for the transportation and installation of offshore oil & gas structures and pipelines to Malaysian Oil and Gas companies/Production Sharing Contractors to PETRONAS.

In 2014, he joined Yinson Energy Sdn Bhd, as the CEO and is currently responsible for providing floating production solution services to the Malaysian and regional oil and gas industry, including marine services.

Dato’ Mohamed Sabri, graduated with a Bachelor Science in Petroleum Engineering from University of Wyoming, USA in 1978.
Senior Independent Non-Executive Director
Sulaiman Ibrahim, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 1 March 2012 as an Non-Executive Director. On 12 December 2013 he was designated as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director. Sulaiman was with PETRONAS Carigali for over 25 years in various areas such as engineering, construction, installation and structural until April 2011.

He has experienced the full cycle of project management from tendering exercises, detail design, procurement, fabrication and installation to hook-up and commissioning of offshore facilities and onshore sludge catchers and tank farms. He also holds directorships in other private limited companies. Sulaiman graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Universiti Malaya in 1984.
Independent Non-Executive Director
Nurhilwani Mohamad Asnawi, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum Berhad on 1 March2012 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. She is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and has approximately 14 years of experience in accounting, finance and treasury.

She joined Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad in 1999 as an Accounts Supervisor and in 2000, Laras Architects Sdn Bhd where she holds the position of Accountant. Nurhilwani graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from University (Institute) Technology MARA in 1998.

Independent Non-Executive Director
Oh Teik Chay,a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Barakah Offshore Petroleum on 1 September 2015 as an Independent and Non-Executive Director. He began his career in 1996 with Robert Teo, Kuan & Co., an accounting firm in Kuala Lumpur. In 2000, he was appointed as General Manager for a group of companies involved in structural steel fabrication and civil works. He, then, started an advisory company based in Hong Kong, with principal activities in consultancy services, investment holdings and trading services.

He was actively involved in cross border mergers and acquisition, corporate restructuring and recovery and turnaround activities, mainly within the energy and oil and gas related industry. In 2006, he set up a boutique investment and advisory house based in Singapore, which provide business strategy and corporate advisory services. In 2013, he established a private equity firm in Singapore, for which he currently sit as an Advisor. He sits on the board of several private limited companies in Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Oh Teik Chay graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Accounting and Finance, from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, United Kingdom.
